The hint about not blaming my dog is such great advice. I read a book by another positive trainer and when I heard that, it was a huge development. I still get frustrated, but it’s more with myself. Once I started taking responsibility for her accidents in the house, it was a lot easier to deal with. My behavior is a lot easier to change than hers.
Its been a month since she peed in the house.

    • Same here. Once I started thinking that way the way I trained with my dog totally changed and we actually started making progress.

    • I agree, it’s such an easy and simple advice but helps a lot. Now when my dog does something wrong I just take a brake and think what did I do wrong and how can I fix it. That way I don’t influence her with my disappointment and frustration. Training is much pleasant now. It’s funny how we humans find it easy to blame others for our mistakes don’t you think?

I need a lot of help! My dog is 5 years old I tried to train her today but I couldn’t even get her to stand in front of me! It’s my fault and the previous owners, the previous owner hadn’t walked her in 6 months, by the looks of it she had never been to the beach because she is terrified of the water, froze as soon as we reached the forest and isn’t trained at all! (She doesn’t pull on the lead and she walks beside me off the lead) I’ve tried to get her to adjust to the water by giving her treats when bathing her so every time she goes in the bath she will know that she gets treats so doesn’t get as scared is that ok? When I was trying to train her to sit she jumped up on me and wouldn’t listen at all. I don’t know what to do. I think it’s the training methods. When she was really hyper I ran around the garden with her to make her calm down and tire her so she wouldn’t be as hyped up. She had a never ending supply of energy! Sometimes it’s really funny the way she is. I’ve only trained her to jump up on things by tapping them and saying “up” plz help. I’m pretty sure it’s my training methods! I’m not sure what to do.

I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I leave him at home he pees in the house: on the carpet, on the bed, on flowers..
My wife and I were thinking about taking him to ‘doggy school’, but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest ‘doggy school’ is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!

if you keep giving dogs treats wouldn’t they get physically sick or just sick of the treats?

+Henri The Cavoodle thanks but you didn’t need to talk like your a dog

    • Henri The Cavoodle

No way man. I love treats and will never get sick of having treats.
Plus my human mum and dad chop mine up really small, so it looks like I’m getting a lot but I’m not.
One treat can be cut up to look like 4-5 treats πŸ™‚
plus mum and dad don’t just give me treats, they also give me big pats and cuddles for rewards or a toy I really like.
Plus you can make us really healthy treats too, I have a yummy treat recipe on my channel.

Is there not a video on just teaching a dog to sit or teaching a difficult dog? Honestly, I’ve tried just about every method I could find to teach my dog to do ANYTHING on command. It always ends with me giving up and my dog avoiding me for the rest of the day. She’s a wonderful dog. She’s house trained, social and lovable as any dog. She will NOT learn a single trick.

I’ve just watched a clip completely undermining all you have said about dog bites and reasons for why dogs can be aggressive.

Have you watched it yourself and if so what is your response to their accusations?
